In 2015, California and many other states across the country first administered a new student assessment of college/career ready achievement standards, the  California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). The assessments are designed to provide information about student performance on the new State Standards, based on the Common Core State Standards adopted in 2010. The CAASPP, which replaced the Standardized Testing and Reporting, or STAR Program, is intended to provide information that can be used to monitor student learning and help students prepare for college or a career upon graduation. Additional District results from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) are available as well.


千亿体育appIn August 2013, Fresno Unified and its  partners redefined school accountability with a federally approved waiver from No Child Left Behind. The district-level waiver served as a historic shift in education reform, setting new standards for utilizing multiple measures and eliminating student disparity and disproportionality. The days of a single test score determining a school’s success were replaced with new indicators ensuring districts were educating the whole child and providing greater professional learning opportunities for teachers. Based on this new School Quality Improvement System (SQIS), partnering districts became more collaborative and set new standards for cross-district learning communities, sharing best practices that unequivocally drove student achievement. SQIS provides districts, school sites, parents and the community a broader definition of accountability, providing real-time data and resources that can impact change in the present.  Understanding that preparing students for college and career goes deeper than achievement, districts, and school sites are now accountable for academic performance, academic growth, retention and completion, social-emotional indicators and culture and climate measures.

With these multiple measures, this web page provides a number of resources — a flashlight of sorts — into this holistic approach of educating the whole child.  The Index and the reports included here are designed to help school communities identify strengths that can be leveraged and challenges that need addressing.  Fresno Unified is focused on improving student achievement and our recent four-year graduation rate indicates we are on the right track. While there is much more work to be done, these tools provide us a broader net to help all students find academic success.
